We moved in that September, with bare necessity , the day before school. Our home had been sold and the closing was to be the next day, right after my two girls went to school. But that morning my 4 year old was hit by a car right waiting for the school bus, right in front of our new old house. She survived and is fine today.

Two years later, before the previous owner passed away we invited him to come and see the house he had once lived. It had both sad and happy memories for him, but he was pleased to see children once again playing in the house.

The blizzard of 78 did it for me. I had recovered from a broken leg twice in one year in 1976 and was truly miserable when the weather got cold. We sold the house and moved to Florida. Every home has its own story to tell. And as in all houses there are good and bad memories. This house is by far no exception and there are many more stories and memories that are wrapped around this house that no one wanted. I could tell if I had the time maybe at a later time. We still love to watch."This Old House" and we think…. been there…. done that.

Do we miss that house…yes and no? We are very happy that we had the opportunity to learn about the "Potter House " on Hopkins Hill Acre. I have been able to share that genealogy with many. We were happy to be able to give our children a sense of history. But most of all we were grateful that we saved that beautiful house from demolition. We were able to see beyond some broken mortar and missing windows, no plumbing, no roof, and countless hours of removing old paint and rebuilding missing pieces ……a house that cried out ……save me…and we did.
